Attend the Coastal Summit!

February 26, 2018CGC EventsBret Webb

The next ASBPA event is the annual Coastal Summit meeting in Washington, DC. This meeting will be held at the ASAE Conference Center on March 20-22, 2018. The theme of this year’s summit is…

Working Together: Science & Policy
for Resilient Coasts

More information about the meeting can be found by clicking here. Aside from being an excellent meeting and a wonderful opportunity to advocate for our nation’s shorelines and beaches, there are three important events relevant to the Central Gulf Coast Chapter…

First, our chapter will be chartered at the Board of Directors meeting on the morning of 3/20. There will be a special social event that night where our new chapter will be celebrated!

Second, a recent beach nourishment project from our region was selected as a 2017 Best Restored Beach by ASBPA. The Dauphin Island East End Beach and Barrier Island Restoration Project restored approximately one mile of eroding shoreline through the placement of 320,000 cubic yards of beach quality sand directly on the beach. This project will be recognized in the Wednesday morning 8 am session.

Third, Louisiana Congressman Garret Graves will receive this year’s ASBPA “Friend of the Coast” award.
