Living Shorelines Best Practices Workshop

Please join the BARC/PPBEP and UWF Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences for a half day of Living Shorelines best practices, lessons learned, and community engagement at the University of West Florida on Friday, August 3rd, 8am-12:30pm. Elected officials are encouraged to attend (this event is publicly advertised).

 

Presentations include:

  • Milestones and Needle-movers for Living Shorelines in the Florida Panhandle: Melody Ray-Culp, Coordinator, US FWS Coastal Program
  • Living Shorelines in the Florida Panhandle: FDEP Perspective (pending approval): Beth Fugate/Zach Schang, FDEP Northwest Florida Aquatic Preserves (pending)
  • About Florida Master Naturalist Program:  Coastal Shorelines Restoration Course: Rick O’Connor, Carrie Stevenson, and Chris Verlinde; UF|IFAS Sea Grant, Escambia & Santa Rosa Counties
  • Concerns and Realism with Living Shorelines, Seagrass Restoration, and Oyster Restoration in Northwest Florida: Year-round Field Observations and Studies Since 2003: Heather Reed, Ecological Consulting Services Inc
