Federal FY21 Appropriations begin to move

The Senate is still considering whether and how to provide stimulus funding to state and local governments struggling with budget shortfalls due to the coronavirus pandemic. Budget shortfalls are particularly challenging for coastal and other tourism-based communities.  The House of Representatives has already passed the HEROES Act to address this and other challenges of coronavirus.

In the meantime, the House has begun to move on FY21 annual spending bills. Recently, the House Appropriations Committee passed the three appropriations bills the most directly address coastal funding.  These bills still have to pass the full House, but here are the current funding levels (in comparison with FY20 final budget) that fund some coastal programs included in the FY21 House Appropriations bills:
