Information for Presenters
Thank you for speaking at ASBPA’s National Coastal Conference, in partnership with the California Shore & Beach Preservation Association (CSBPA) Headwaters to Oceans (H2O) conference, “Coasts on the Leading Edge: Bridging Science, Policy and Community,” to be held October 7-10, 2025 in Long Beach, California. We are excited to share your work with attendees! To ensure another great conference experience, we would like to share some updates and important dates. Also, if your plans have changed and you will not be able to join us, please let managing@asbpa.org know as soon as possible.
Presentations
At the heart of our program are the over 150 presentations given by our speakers. The following guidelines help make sure your best foot is forward.
Each room will have a laptop, screen, projector and podium with microphone. Oral presentations will be a total of 20 minutes. We urge you to present for 15 minutes and allow 5 minutes for questions. We consistently receive feedback that a robust Q&A discussion following presentations is meaningful to both the presenter and attendee. Time limits will be strictly enforced so that the numerous concurrent sessions stay on schedule. We will have a moderator and student volunteer helping to keep time and address any technical issues that arise.
As a live presenter you will be expected to share your presentation with staff by 5pm PT the day before your presentation at the latest. Your presentation will be loaded on the laptop in your session room, and you are responsible for running your presentation with a slide advance remote or laptop keys. The slide advancer will be provided.
Presentation slides should be sent to asbpatech@gmail.com ahead of the conference, uploaded in the speaker google folder or dropped off at the Tech Desk at conference registration prior to 5pm PT the day before your presentation. What format should my presentation be in?
Presentations should be in PowerPoint or PDF format.
What size should my slides be?
Slides can be in regular or widescreen format.
Can I share a video?
Yes. Video files need to be embedded in presentation slides to ensure they play. We do not recommend playing videos which require an internet connection.
Will I be able to include audio?
Yes but please keep in mind that audio will be played through the in-room projector.
I have a demo I would like to share, what is the best way?
We recommend when walking through resources, websites, applications, etc. that it be prerecorded using a screen recording software and embedded in a slide deck.
