2021 National Beach Nourishment Database update
By: Dr. Nicole Elko, ASBPA Science Director
Every year, the ASBPA Science & Technology committee convenes a team of experts to update the National Beach Nourishment Database. Do you know of a nourishment project that has been constructed in the last year or two? If so, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to have it added to the database. We are very proud of this database, which represents what we think is the most comprehensive national perspective of U.S. beach nourishment projects; however, it can only be maintained with the help of our members. YOU are the experts about nourishment projects in your area. Please share your knowledge and information with us!
We just published a paper highlighting national beach nourishment trends in the Journal of Ocean & Coastal Management called “A century of U.S. beach nourishment.” Check it out!

An objective of the database is to provide our members and the public with detailed information on U.S. nourishment projects at the National, State, and Community level including:
The Community Name and the number of nourishment “events” (renourishments) per community; The date that the project was originally nourished (initial event), and the date of the most recent event; The total volume placed on the project; The total cost; and The length of beach nourished.
