Coastal Flooding Survey
The American Shore & Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA) is helping to address top coastal management challenges such as high tide flooding, which has become a major concern to tourism-based and residential coastal communities. We are seeking participants to help assess specific community challenges and needs related to coastal flooding.
Please share your experiences with flood mitigation strategies and your research and funding needs. The results are critical to help us better communicate your needs and advocate for improvements at a national scale. The results will inform an ASBPA Science & Technology Committee white paper on coastal flooding that will be published in Shore &Beach in early 2022. Results will be shared with federal agencies such as NOAA through ASBPA’s 5-year “Southeast Coastal Communities Water Level ObservationSystem” project.
This short survey will remain open until December 20, 2021. Your responses can be edited if you return to the survey from the same device. All responses to the survey are anonymous. However, if you include your email (optional), we will send you a copy of the survey summary. Your email will not be distributed or included in any dissemination.
We encourage coastal managers, as well as representatives from agencies, industry, NGOs and academia to take the survey.
If you have any questions about this survey, please contact ASBPA’s Science Director, Nicole Elko at nicole.elko@asbpa.org. On behalf of ASBPA, thank you in advance for your participation.
2022 Chapter Activities
The Central Gulf Coast Chapter endeavors to expand its activities in the coming year. In addition to hosting our regular Lunch & Learn meetings (virtually), we are working on organizing other in-person events for 2022. Examples include social events and an 8-hour technical workshop/meeting held in our Chapter region. We are also developing, and will roll out soon, a suite of sponsorship opportunities for supporting the Chapter and its activities in the years to come. Stay tuned for more information coming to your email inbox early in 2022.
