November 17, 2022 Lunch & Learn

October 24, 2022CGC EventsBret Webb

Please join the ASBPA Central Gulf Coast Chapter for this one-hour virtual Lunch & Learn seminar. Nick Cox with Moffatt & Nichol will give a presentation on their award winning shoreline and habitat restoration project at Lightning Point in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. Attendees will receive a certificate acknowledging their participation in one hour of technical content for professional development reporting. Event registration is required… click the link below.

The Lightning Point Restoration Project

The Lightning Point Restoration Project restored over 40 acres of coastal habitat through the creation of a resilient living shoreline. The living shoreline design is habitat focused, and was designed in part by using natural analogues to mimic natural marsh and tidal creek systems in the project vicinity. The project was immediately tested by Hurricane Zeta and its 17-year return period water level at the project site. The living shoreline design performed as intended with minimal damage to the project.

Mr. Cox is a coastal engineer focusing on small- and large-scale coastal restoration projects across the Gulf Coast. He has worked on the planning, design and construction of over 4,000 acres of marsh restoration projects ranging in size from 25 to 1,200 acres.
