H2O 2023 Conference

August 15, 2023CSBPA Eventscsbpa

California Shore and Beach Preservation Association (CSBPA) and Beach Erosion Authority for Clean Oceans and Nourishment (BEACON) are excited to see you!

We are bringing H20 BACK!!

  • November 29-30, 2023 at Crown Plaza Hotel in Ventura, CA

  • Register here:  https://whova.com/portal/registration/hocon_202311/

  • Guided field trip of Surfers Point afternoon on November 28

The H2O conference serves as a catalyst for collaboration across various fields, industries, institutions, and organizations united by their shared interests in topics related to water, oceans, coastal environments, sediment management, resilience, and the intersections between terrestrial and marine systems. Through a dynamic blend of panel discussions, presentations, and collaborative working groups, conference attendees will not only identify emerging challenges but also foster a solutions-oriented mindset in these critical domains.

This event will shine a spotlight on impactful projects and scholarly contributions, bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and actionable policy decisions. Beyond providing a platform for the exchange of best practices, H2O will actively engage a diverse array of leaders and knowledge facilitators. The conference will also offer ample networking opportunities to forge meaningful connections among these stakeholders.

Abstract submissions are open! We are accepting abstracts across a wide array of topics including, but not limited to:

  • Watershed and coastal  health, restoration, and management
  • Coastal hazards and sea level rise
  • Climate change resilience and adaptation
  • Nature-based solutions
  • Coastal sediment management
  • Biodiversity across ecosystems
  • Terrestrial and marine conservation
  • Indigenous knowledge and stewardship
  • Disaster preparedness and response
  • Education and outreach
  • Ecosystem-based management approaches
  • Governance and financing of environmental management
  • Water sustainability and planning
  • Community science and engagement
  • Remote sensing and GIS application
  • Environmental modeling
  • Ocean literacy programs for youth and communities.
  • Diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice
  • Access, recreation, and the human elements of coastal management

These topics represent a general call for abstracts, however H20 is purposely a broad and diverse conference so abstract may not necessarily align entirely within the above categories. We welcome topics across the headwaters to ocean spectrum!

We are accepting abstracts in three categories :

  • Full panel submissions (4 speakers for 60 min, may include a moderator)
  • Individual talks (15 min)
  • Lightning talks (5 min)

Submit abstracts (in .doc or .pdf format) to: h2oabstracts2023@gmail.com.

Abstracts should be brief paragraphs that provide an overview of the intended presentation.

Please include correspondence information for the lead author (name, organization, email).

For panels, please provide panel title, individual speaker information (name, organization, presentation title, email) , and identify one lead representative for the panel.
