National Beach Nourishment Database Update 2025

The 2025 National Beach Nourishment Database update is underway. The ASBPA National Beach Nourishment Database is an online geodatabase that provides national-scale statistics on U.S. communities beach nourishment efforts over the last century (Elko et al. 2021). The database has been compiled over the last two decades and is updated annually by ASBPA membership.  

During the recent 2024 project season, the database recorded 32 projects which placed over 7.5 million cubic yards of sand. We could not have obtained this valuable information without your help! Please consider our 2025 call to action. We hope you will submit any project data you have access to that would expand the scope and accuracy of the database. There will be those in your region that may not see this, so please share this with relevant project managers to make sure we get all projects into our database.  

We certainly want updates and information on new projects, but we also need help with historic projects which includes fact checking of length and cost figures for past projects. So even though you may not have anything new to add, if no nourishment projects have occurred in your region since last year, please log in and look at nearby projects. In addition, we always welcome any quality checking help you can offer with the older records.

If you’d like to submit a project for this year’s update, please email me obrienk2022@fau.edu and Executive Director Nicole Elko. Include the project year, name, volume (cubic yards), length (feet), and cost if possible.
