The ASBPA and USCRP invites manuscripts on “Past, Present, and Future of Coastal Research: USCRP Perspectives” for a dedicated issue of Shore & Beach. 2024 marked the 10-year anniversary of the “Past and Future of Nearshore Process Research” community visioning session. After the community came together to produce the nearshore report, the US Coastal Research Program was formed and has convened the community through thematic workshops, monthly meetings, and in 2024, hosted a Decadal Visioning Workshop to identify and prioritize key management challenges and high priority science gaps to guide the next decade of coastal research. This dedicated issue celebrates the progress made over the last decade and looks ahead to the next, including highlights of USCRP accomplishments. The goal is to review progress made in the past ten years, share current research findings and state of the coastal community, expand upon themes brought up at the workshop, and present an outlook on future focus areas to address to improve coastal community resilience.
This special issue will be published in the first quarter of 2026. Expressions of interest for serving as a Guest Editor are encouraged. Guest editors will be announced in late summer 2025.
