Open Now! ASBPA Student Award Nominations for the National Coastal Conference

The Students and New Professionals (SNP) Chapter of ASBPA announces student award nominations to be awarded at the National Coastal Conference this October 7 – 10 in Long Beach, CA. ASBPA Student Awards and poster abstracts are due by August 15. Note: self-nominations are encouraged! Please review the awards described below. Nicholas Kraus Coastal Scholar Award 

• Eligibility – Graduate student
• Responsibility – The award winner will become the dedicated staff member for the ASBPA Science and Technology Committee.
• Award – The award includes a $600 cash stipend.

James Houston Coastal Economics Scholar Award

• Eligibility – Undergraduate or graduate student
• Responsibility – The award winner will intern with ASBPA’s Executive Director and Government Affairs Committee to develop economic impact statistics of US beaches.
• Award – The award includes a $500 cash stipend.

Student Coastal Advocate Award

• Eligibility – Undergraduate or graduate student
• Responsibility – The award winner will become the dedicated staff member for the ASBPA Government Affairs Committee.
• Award – The award includes a $600 cash stipend.

Student Educational Award

• Eligibility – Undergraduate or graduate student
• Responsibility – The award winner is expected to attend the ASBPA National Coastal Conference and present his or her research findings to the coastal community. Additionally, the winner is strongly encouraged to submit their award nomination paper for peer review by the editorial staff of Shore & Beach, the ASBPA’s technical journal, and possible inclusion in a future issue.
• Award – The award includes a $500 cash stipend.

Student and New Professionals Travel Scholarship

• Eligibility – Undergraduate or graduate student
• Responsibility – The award winner is expected to regularly participate in SNP Chapter meetings and initiatives.
• Award – The award includes financial support to offset the costs of travel to the conference (amount TBD).
