This month, our focus is on ASBPA’s National Coastal Conference held in partnership with the California Shore & Beach Preservation Association (CSBPA) Headwaters to Oceans (H2O) conference, in Long Beach, California. As a national leader in coastal restoration, ASBPA convenes this gathering of coastal practitioners from various geographies and areas of expertise to discuss recent developments in coastal science and policy. The agenda is packed with engaging speakers from California, Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest, Washington, D.C. and just about every other coastal location in the country.
In this return to the West Coast after only three short years, we are ecstatic that over 400 attendees from all over the country will join us. I’m so proud that seventy-two (72) of them are students! Training and supporting the next generation of coastal scientists and engineers is essential to ASBPA. These students will solve the coastal challenges of tomorrow – maybe at your organization. Our active engagement of students through our Students and New Professionals chapter, student awards, and travel stipends is paying off. We need your help to continue Shaping Coastal Futures.
We’ll continue our 2025 fundraiser during the ASBPA National Coastal Conference. Funds raised in this annual campaign directly support training the next generation of coastal leaders, promoting science-based resilience policies, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of coastal resilience. Please join me in looking ahead to ASBPA’s Centennial in 2026 by giving back and contributing to the future of our nation’s shores and beaches. https://asbpa.org/get-involved/support-us/
