Episode 35. ASBPA’s Shaping Shores with Tom Herrington

Welcome to Shaping Shores, the Centennial podcast of the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association. For nearly a hundred years, ASBPA has united people across science, policy, and practice to preserve U.S. shores and beaches.

In Episode 35, Tom Herrington, Acting Director of the Urban Coast Institute joins the #ShapingShores podcast to discuss New Jersey’s long standing support for coastal projects; how Hurricane Sandy impacted coastal science, policy, and communities; and evolutions in technology today and for the next generation.

Guests

Dr. Thomas Herrington is the associate director of the Urban Coast Institute at Monmouth University and serves as the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium Resilient Communities and Economies Specialist. Dr. Herrington has 30 years of experience in coastal resilience and hazard mitigation research, including the monitoring and analysis of coastal system changes to storm surge and wave impacts, and the analysis of Nature and Nature Based Features for ecosystem restoration and community resilience.
