ASBPA Coastal Summit 2026

Program

We are pleased to announce the program for ASBPA’s 100th Anniversary Coastal Summit on March 24-26 in Washington, D.C. The celebratory program will include presentations and panel discussions, with multiple opportunities for networking and special events celebrating 100 years of shore & beach preservation. The virtual Agency Exchange meetings occur the week prior to the Summit with NOAA on March 18, and BOEM on March 19. We look forward to collaborating with you to promote and advocate for bipartisan coastal programs.

Schedule
The Summit begins at 1pm local time on March 24 and concludes at 12pm on March 26.
Sessions will be held from 1-5 pm on Tuesday and from 8 am-12 pm respectively on Wednesday and Thursday.
ASBPA Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill is the afternoon of March 25. Following the introduction of ASBPA Centennial proclamations on the House and Senate floors, ASBPA will host a formal United Nations–style proclamation ceremony in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, featuring state and local proclamations from across the country. A 100th anniversary reception will follow at the Royal Sonesta Capitol Hill Crown Ballroom less than one block from the NACo building.

Location
The Coastal Summit will be held at the National Association of Counties Building (NACo)  in the first floor conference room located at 660 North Capitol Street NW, Suite 400, Washington, DC 20001.

Nominations are now closed for the Government & Policy awards and we look forward to presenting the awards during the Coastal Summit.

Congressional Awards

ASBPA awards members of Congress for their work in advancing policy to help beaches and coastlines. Nominations may recommend one of the following awards, but the Awards Committee will determine the appropriate award.

Coastal Advocate

ASBPA’s highest congressional award, a lifetime achievement award for a Member of Congress.

Friend of the Coast

Congressional award for shorter term or more project-specific contributions.

Congressional Staffer Award

The Congressional Staffer award will be given to a single staff member for his or her efforts both to promote beach preservation and to facilitate project requests in the past.

The Corps of Engineers Award

This award honors a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who contributed to the cause of beach management and preservation. These can be staff from the district who make projects happen, or staff from divisions, headquarters, ERDC or elsewhere who have improved the Corps’ coastal capabilities.

Agency Award

The Agency award will be given to a single staff member at a federal agency (other than the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) for his or her efforts to promote beach preservation or advance and implement policy to improve the health of U.S. coastlines.

The Summit will be held at the NACo Building located at 660 North Capitol Street NW, Suite 400, Washington, DC 20001. Please note ASBPA does not have a Summit hotel room block. Below is a list of hotels nearby the NACo building.
